New Hope
New Hope will be receiving a building permit from the city of Shafter any day now. They have been actively raising the funds necessary for the remodel of the building which was purchased last year. The property is located on East Lerdo Highway, the main east-west road through Shafter. It is an ideal location for ministry, is easily accessible by car, and is within a short walk of hundreds of homes in the neighborhood. Not only will the newly remodeled building be a place of Sunday worship but it will provide a location for many kinds of ministries. There will be Spanish-speaking Bible Studies and worship times during the week. It is in an ideal location for after-school activities for children and youth, including tutoring and language classes. There has been discussion about creating a food pantry and a clothing closet as well.
The folks of New Hope have been involved in a couple of fundraising projects so far and there are more plans in the works. The leadership team is following up on a number of contacts with churches and individuals who have expressed an interest in helping fund the remodel project. Please pray that the Lord will go before them and lead them to the right people who will be used by God to help New Hope get into their new home and expand the reach of their ministries into the Shafter community.
